I have been working hard on revamping my blog over the past couple of months. Recently, I was working on the "about me" page on my blog and realized that I didn't have a good headshot or family photo that I could use. Many people gravitate towards the about me page first. It’s the place where new readers come to learn about me. So I think it’s important to continually work on it to make it really reflect who I am.
One of my mentors recommended adding a "real" headshot. I thought it was a great idea, but the only problem was, I didn't have any headshots lying around. Sure, I take plenty of selfies, but I had never taken the time to invest in a professional headshot.
The image I had on my about me page was a casual photo taken a while back on a point and shoot camera, so it wasn't the best quality. My mentor also suggested adding a family photo to my page so that my reader could get a better sense of who we are as a family. Imagine my surprise when a few weeks after receiving the suggestions, I was offered the chance to have professional photos taken at Portrait Innovations. Of course, I didn't hesitate to say yes!
The whole process was a breeze. Actually, the hardest part was trying to decide on what we would wear! Taking a quick look at their online photo galleries helped me to come up with some ideas though. We were able to book an appointment right away. When we arrived at the studio, we were impressed. It was large and very well lit. It was also very clean. There was no wait time at all.
We checked in at the front desk and were whisked to a camera room within minutes.
Our photographer, Carolyn, was awesome. She was very friendly. First she took my headshots. I love how they came out!
Next, she took lots of shots of us as a family! After taking so many shots, I thought we were done, but boy was I wrong! We were then moved to another camera room where she took even more shots of us.
They had fun props, like the leather jacket featured in this photo of my son. Doesn't he look cool?
When she was done, Carolyn informed us that our photos would be available the same day. I was shocked! I thought that there would be some sort of waiting period, but learned that they print the photos on site. How cool is that?
We then sat down with Carolyn and reviewed all of the photos she shot and selected the ones we liked the best. It was so hard to choose because we liked so many of them, but Carolyn never rushed us. She allowed us to take our time while we made our selections. She also informed us of all the special offers that were available to us, which helped us in making our final selection.
I would highly recommend Portrait Innovations to anyone who is looking to have their portraits taken. I can’t wait to go back to have more photos taken!
